1. [info]bottle_of_shine is hosting a reading challenge: list ten books you like, then read and review three books from other people's lists. The challenge runs from May 1 to November 30.

2. Discussion on fic length vs. feedback by [info]usomitai.

If a story that took you two months to create will get as much attention as one that took two hours, which will you opt for?

Again, it's about the reason why we write fics. Insta-feedback is okay but I also miss the joy of churning out a long story with multiple incidents and nuances in it.
(Things are becoming weird for me nowadays - I spend the day being busy and longing for the night to arrive so I can sit back and write fic, and when night does come I find myself too sleepy to be creative, or unsure which bunny I should cater to first /end irrelevant personal bit)

From one of the comments:
commenters that follow a fic in from communities or the recommendations of others are intimidated by the idea of cornering the author

The fear of offending a stranger, I suppose. If you have been reading the author for a while or probably know her IRL, you may be less hesitant.

1. Give me one or two characters, a wuxia AU situation, and I'll make up a scenario for them. For inspiration or refreshing the memory, you can look up the titles of classic wuxia novels here.

2. It’s Not You, It’s Your Books, an article about how people break up because they don't read the same books. The article says women generally read more books than men do (which is why women also tend to write more?), and that "listing your favorite books and authors is a crucial, if risky, part of self-branding." I'm not quite ashamed of admitting that I read, for example, Stephen King, although for the past few years I've been trying to go out of my comfort zone and read books by a diverse range of authors.

3. The eighth book of [info]imaginarybeasts is out, theme: gendertwist. Sign-up for Book 9 is open, theme: steampunk.

4. This month's genre at [info]genrechallenge is satire/parody.
